Coastal Fisheries Development Project supporting landing sites, ice supply, and artisanal fishers across Puntland.
The Coastal Fisheries Development Project (CFDP) strengthens artisanal fishing communities along the Puntland coast through improved landing sites, cold-chain infrastructure, and safer working conditions for fishers and processors.
Key activities include upgrading selected landing facilities, expanding ice and cold storage where feasible, and supporting small-scale gear and boat safety standards. CFDP works with district authorities and fisher cooperatives to ensure investments respond to local catch patterns and seasonal demand.
The project prioritises women and youth engaged in post-harvest handling and small trade, linking training on hygiene, quality grading, and basic business skills to market access. Monitoring and reporting track catch landing volumes, employment in the value chain, and community feedback.
CFDP aligns with MOFMR's mandate to promote sustainable coastal livelihoods while safeguarding marine resources for future generations.
